Ather 450X
1. Performance of Ather 450X
I went to the showroom to check things personally. After gathering details with the showroom manager, I found that Ather 450X carries a 6.4kW permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM).
The prime benefit of this PMSM is that it provides you with instant torque for fast acceleration.
Then I ventured into the area of speed. After getting permission from the showroom manager, I tested this area with a personal test drive.
From the test drive, I concluded that the top speed for this electric vehicle is 85-90 km/h. With this speed, you can easily drive in the city. You can also occasionally drive on highways. It depends on your choice.
After this, I check the acceleration area. As far as I can see, the Ather 450X touches a speed of 0-40 km/h in just 3.3 sec. This is good when it comes to swiftness in the city traffic.
Next came the range. This was an important area I wanted to look into. As far as I could find, this electric scooter moves up to 116 km on a single charge.
The credit for this range goes to the 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
After gathering details and also seeing the vehicle brochure personally, I got the information that the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in 3 hours. For 100 percent charging, it will take 5 hours.
2. Ather 450X Features
After analysing the display area, I found that Ather 450X carries a 7-inch touchscreen display. With this electric scooter, you will find crisp resolution and vibrant colours. You also have smartphone connectivity.
When I peeped into the connectivity area, I found the electric scooter is 4G LTE based. I could also find added smart features like Bluetooth connectivity.
Since braking is an important area for electric vehicles, I wanted to know this area. I found that Ather 450X has a regenerative braking mechanism.
What happens with regenerative braking? With regenerative braking, you can increase range. This happens after converting kinetic energy to electric energy during deceleration.
As I checked the lighting area, I found that Ather 450X has LED headlamps, and taillamps apart from turn indicators. With these facilities, you get better visibility as well as energy efficiency.
3. The safety aspect of Ather 450X
I looked into the safety aspect and found that Ather 450X carries a dual-channel ABS[anti-lock braking system]. With this, the braking performance is stable. It also prevents the lock-up of the wheel during abrupt braking.
Bajaj Chetak electric scooter
1. Performance of Chetak
After visiting the Bajaj Chetak electric motor showroom personally, I found that the vehicle uses a 4.2kW BLDC [brushless direct current] motor.
The prime advantage of this motor is that it provides silent operation and smooth power delivery.
The top speed of this electric scooter goes to 70 km/h making a good urban and highway ride.
Acceleration goes to 0-40 km/hr in 4.2 seconds and goes up to 126 km on a single charge. The credit for this goes to the 3.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
The full battery charge takes 4.5 hours.
2. Features- Bajaj Chetak
As I can see, Bajaj Chetak offers you a small LCD screen with all the relevant information.
It provides Bluetooth connectivity with remote lock and unlock features.
The electric scooter also provides keyless ignition apart from the reverse mode facility. You also have the integrated charger with this one. You can charge directly from a standard wall socket.
3. Bajaj Chetak’s safety aspects
Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, as the showroom manager explained, provides CBS[ combined braking system]. With this facility, the brake force is distributed between the front and back wheels.
The electric scooter also provides you high hold assist and LED lighting facility.
