Design and Exterior
As per my conversation with the experts at the Tata Nexon EV, before I went for purchase, I am interested in telling you about the design and exterior of this EV.
Starting with design, the Tata Nexon EV has a robust SUV appearance. Although it has the Nexon styling, it also has blue accents to signify its electric nature.
The front grille is sleek and modern, along with sharp headlamps and a sculpted bumper.
To be honest, I also went to the MG EV showroom at that time. I did see the MG EV and it will not be wrong to say that it did not satisfy me.
MG ZS EV boasts a streamlined and aerodynamic silhouette. It has a distinctive front with a prominent grille and LED headlights.
This type of design gives it a sophisticated and futuristic appeal. Overall, both vehicles provide appealing designs for various aesthetic preferences.
Interior Features
To be honest, I talked to design experts for both cars. Their convincing methods satisfied me.
Tata Nexon EV offers a big cabin with quality materials and comfortable seating. The dashboard layout is practical.
Tata Nexon EV also has a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. It also carries Android Auto compatibility.
Nexon EV also has automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, and a digital instrument cluster for a modern driving experience.
On the other hand, MG ZS EV has a premium interior with leather upholstery and soft-touch materials.
It also has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, and a digital instrument cluster.
The ZS EV provides a luxurious and tech-savvy environment for the one who buys this one.
Performance and Range
Based on my own experience and the discussion with the MG showroom manager related to performance and range.
When it comes to performance, the Tata Nexon EV is powered by a 30.2 kWh battery pack with a permanent magnet AC motor, delivering 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque.
It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and offers an ARAI-certified range of 325 to 465 kilometres on a single charge depending on the model.
The Nexon EV supports both standard AC charging and fast DC charging options, making it a perfect fit for different charging needs.
On the other hand, the MG ZS EV is equipped with a 44.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a synchronous motor, producing 142.7 PS of power and 353 Nm of torque.
It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and provides an ARAI-certified range of 419 kilometres.
The ZS EV supports fast charging and can charge from 0 to 80% in approximately 50 minutes using a 50 kW DC charger.
In terms of performance and range, the MG ZS EV has a bit more power. It also has a longer driving range for better performance. This one has extended capabilities of driving.
Safety and Technology
Both the Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV offer safety with various features.
The Nexon EV comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
Higher models have features like electronic stability control, hill hold control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts for enhanced safety.
Similarly, the MG ZS EV offers a safety suite with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and tire pressure monitoring system.
It also includes advanced driver assistance systems like adaptive cruise control. It has automatic emergency braking on higher variants.
When it comes to technology, both SUVs are well-equipped. The Tata Nexon EV has connected car technology with remote commands, and vehicle diagnostics.
Nexon EV also has location-based services through Tata’s iRA-connected app. It also offers over-the-air (OTA) updates for software enhancements.
The MG ZS EV has an advanced infotainment system with MG’s i-SMART-connected car technology.
It offers features like voice commands, real-time navigation, and remote vehicle control via the MG i-SMART mobile app.
Price and Value for Money
I purchased the tata Nexon EV so I know the pricing of it. Also, I did researched and asked the price to the MG ZS EV owner living in the neighbourhood.
The present price of Tata Nexon EV generally ranges from Rs 14.49 to 19.49 Lakh.
The Tata Nexon EV is competitively priced, making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs in the Indian market.
It offers good value for money with its range and features. It appeals to budget-conscious buyers who want to buy an EV.
On the other hand, the MG ZS EV is slightly higher in terms of pricing. Its current price ranges from Rs 18.98 Lakh to 25.44 Lakh.
But the price of this one justifies it with its larger battery capacity, longer range, and premium features.
Maintenance and Driving Experience
I talked about maintenance and driving experience with the experts of both EVS followed by a test drive for both. It was at the time of my decision regarding purchase.
Both Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV provide unique advantages in maintenance and driving experience.
The Tata Nexon EV has low maintenance requirements due to its fewer moving parts. This reduces service costs and costs for repairs.
Its driving experience is smooth. The instant torque will provide you responsive acceleration.
On the other hand, when it comes to the MG ZS EV, you have minimal maintenance. The credit for this goes to its electric drivetrain.
This EV provides you with a refined driving experience. The credit goes to its suspension system that increases ride comfort and handling.
Both EVs provide an efficient driving experience. The MG ZS EV provides a slightly more premium feel because of interior quality and technology..
Final Thoughts
By the end of the day, the choice is yours. Both the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV are excellent options, and I’m very happy with my Nexon EV.
If you’re looking for the most budget-friendly choice, I’d recommend the Tata Nexon EV.
However, if you’re willing to spend a bit more for extra features and a slightly more premium experience, the MG ZS EV could be worth the extra investment.
Both of these electric SUVs deliver impressive performance in their own unique ways. It all comes down to what suits your needs and budget best.
