Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Should You Buy It

I know you might have questions about electric scooters, especially about Bajaj Chetak’s electric scooter.

Is it worth the money?  Can it go that far on a single charge?

Topics Covered
1. Long Battery Life2. Charging Time3. Maximum Range and Speed4. Affordable Price: Fits Your Budget?5. Estimated Electric Usage6. Premium Look and Style7. Some Advanced Features8. Know Before You Buy (Disadvantages)So, Should You Buy It?

Well, hold on to your helmet, because I’m about to give you the full details on the Bajaj chetak scooter.

We’ll talk about how far you can go on a single charge, and how long it takes.

Also, I help you to understand how much it costs to buy and maintain, and all the cool features that make this scooter the right choice.

By the end of this conversation, you’ll know exactly if the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is the right electric ride for you!

1. Long Battery Life

Imagine a scooter that can run for almost a full day’s errands on a single charge!

The Bajaj Chetak boasts a range of around 90-95 kilometres on a full charge.

That’s enough to zip around the city for work, pick up groceries, and even visit friends without worrying about running out of battery.

When comparing the Bajaj Chetak or TVS iQube, the Chetak offers a solid range, making it an excellent option for daily city rides.

2. Charging Time

Nobody likes waiting around forever to get back on the road.

The Bajaj Chetak e-scooter charges pretty quickly compared to some other electric scooters like OLA.

Depending on the type of charger you use, I observed that a full charge can take anywhere between 4-5 hours with a regular charger.

And if you use any fast charger then it can take up to 1-1.5 hours.

3. Maximum Range and Speed

This scooter prioritizes a comfortable ride over a little fast speed.

It has a maximum speed of around 70 kilometres per hour, which is perfect for navigating city traffic.

Generally, I drive the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter around 65 km per hour on the highway.

Plus, the electric motor gives you good pick-up and acceleration, so you won’t feel sluggish getting off the line.

4. Affordable Price: Fits Your Budget?

The Bajaj Chetak comes in various variants, with a starting price of around ₹ 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). This means the price you pay before taxes and registration.

If you want to learn about the daily maintenance costs, I can share my experience.

I travelled 50 km every day on my scooter. With a petrol scooter averaging around 50 km/litre, petrol costs ₹ 106 per litre, and my monthly fuel cost was around ₹ 3180.

In a year, that’s a whopping ₹ 38,160! Then I decided to go with the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter. Now I can travel roughly the same distance on a single charge, and electricity costs are much lower.

Along with saving on fuel, the Bajaj Chetak service cost is also more affordable compared to petrol scooters, adding to the overall savings.

5. Estimated Electric Usage

I was telling you about the Bajaj Chetak, the electric scooter everyone’s talking about.

You were curious about how much electricity it uses, right?

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has a big battery pack, like a water tank for electricity.

To charge the battery completely, it takes about 3-4 units of electricity.

Now, that might sound like a lot at first, but it costs around Rs. 36-40.

6. Premium Look and Style

The first classic Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is the Urbane variant.

It’s got clean lines, a simple design, and even a chrome ring around the headlight – a cool throwback to older scooters.

The Urbane has sleek curves and a modern body that looks great on anyone.

Now, if you’re looking for something a bit more fancy, the Premium variant is the right.

It’s got all the smooth lines of the Urbane but with some extra style.

They throw in chrome accents on the grab rail and mirrors, making it look super sleek and stylish.

7. Some Advanced Features

The Chetak comes with some cool features that make your ride more convenient.

It has an all-digital instrument console that shows you battery level, speed, and other information.

You also get features like a reverse mode for tight parking situations and LED lights for better visibility at night.

8. Know Before You Buy (Disadvantages)

Here’s what to consider before you zoom off on your new Chetak:

  • Limited Charging Network: Public charging stations for electric vehicles are still growing in India. You’ll mostly rely on charging at home.
  • Higher Initial Cost: Compared to a petrol scooter, the upfront cost of the Chetak is more. When you compare electric scooters with petrol scooters, you’ll find that while electrics have lower running costs, their initial price can be a deterrent.
  • Not for Long Distances: With a maximum range of around 95 km, the Chetak might not be ideal for long highway trips.

So, Should You Buy It?

The Bajaj Chetak is a great option for city riders who want a stylish, convenient, and eco-friendly way to get around.

If your daily commute falls within its range and you can charge at home, the Chetak can be a smart choice.

But if you need a scooter for long journeys or don’t have easy access to charging, you might want to consider other options.
