I own one of the good variants of Tata Nexon. As the owner, I was thrilled with the car’s appreciable performance. However, I must admit that the suspension issues affected my comfort level.
Issues may vary from one owner to another. In this blog, I will tell you about the suspension issues. I will also tell you the reasons and solutions.
After reading this blog, I hope you will have some good know-how in this area. When you purchase or before you purchase this EV, you will have a pre-awareness about this area.
Know that for any electric car, technical issues may come shortly and Tata Nexon is surely not an exception.
You also know how a problem is dealt with. You need to look into the potential reasons. Some of the major reasons could be facts related to the mechanical aspects and design.
When I went to the service centre personally, I learned to a greater extent about suspension-related issues. In this blog, I will highlight some of my experiences.
1. Worn-out Shock Absorbers
Tata Nexon EV has a shock absorber that can absorb shocks in rough terrains and bumps.
How do you feel that the shock absorber is damaged? You may generally feel this if the car bounces in excess. You may also feel the insatiable behaviour of the EV during turns.
Because of the worn-out shock absorber, note that the brake distance also increases.
2. Damaged Struts
The expert gave me an overview of the suspension system at the service station. We discussed struts.
The suspension service expert told me that the struts are an important part of the suspension system.
The good work of struts is that they provides structural support. It also absorbs the shocks.
How do you know that there is a strut damage? You need to first understand this.
If the strut damage has happened, you may find tyre wear and also excess noise on a rough path.
If your Nexon EV leans to one side, this also can indicate strut damage.
3. Misaligned Suspension Components
Misalignment is not good for the suspension system. The service expert told me this when I faced the issues. If your Nexon EV faces misalignment, it may hit a pothole.
Misaligned suspension systems may create problems and the EV may lose control.
The expert told me that if you suspect further suspension issues in future, you need to look for the signs. In many cases, the steering wheels could be off-centre.
4. Broken or Worn Bushings
The service expert told me that your Nexon EV has a design based on noise and vibration reduction. For this, the car has bushings. These are rubber parts.
The service expert told me that the problem with bushings could lead to a clunking noise. He further added that with such symptoms, you will not get that special feel for steering.
The best thing to tackle is to have a timely monitoring of such parts. Experts at the Nexon EV centre in Delhi told me that if you do this, you will again take your vehicle to the path of stability.
5. Faulty Suspension Springs
Do you want a smooth ride as a Nexon EV owner or an aspirant? If your vehicle has faulty or broken suspension springs, you will find the misalignment.
The service expert told me that in such a case, the bouncing experience can reach an upper level. You will also find the driving experience uncomfortable.
Fixing the Suspension Issues
1. Regular Maintenance
I had a conversation with the Nexon service centre head. He stressed regular maintenance to fix the potential suspension problems that may come.
He further told me that if I go for the regular inspection, the technicians will tackle the problem before it shoots up shortly.
2. Seek the Professional Help
Better if you consult the suspension specialist or an experienced technician if you detect any suspension-related issues.
Remember, if you diagnose beforehand, you can treat and finish off the suspension-related symptom before it shoots up.
Final Thoughts
Friend, suspension-related reasons may vary from one EV to another or from owner to owner.
In this blog, I have given you a brief idea about the potential symptoms. It will create pre-awareness in you.
You can deal with this through proper inspection and become free from any potential symptoms related to suspension problems that tend to escalate.
