Why is My Ola Scooter Display Not Working Properly

Soaring around on your Ola S1 is a blast, but sometimes things don’t go according to plan.

One moment you’re cruising, the next, your scooter’s display goes dark.

Don’t fret! A blank display doesn’t necessarily mean a trip to the service center.

Here’s a breakdown of what might be causing the issue and some troubleshooting steps you can try to get your S1 display back up and running.

1. Understanding the Problem

First, let’s differentiate between a completely blank display and one that’s malfunctioning.

Is the screen truly off, or is it showing some strange visuals, flickering, or displaying error messages?

This small distinction can help narrow down the potential culprit.

Simple Fixes First:

Before we dive into more complex solutions, let’s try some quick checks that might solve the issue:

Power Up: Seems obvious, but sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

Make sure your scooter is properly turned on.

Check the kickstand – if it’s down, the scooter won’t start and the display won’t light up.

Give it a Restart: Sometimes, a quick electronic reboot can work wonders.

Press and hold the power button and the reverse button (the one with the curved arrow) simultaneously for about 6 seconds.

This should initiate a system restart, and hopefully, your display will spring back to life.

Check the Connection: There’s a possibility that the display cable might be loose or disconnected.

This isn’t something you should try to fix yourself, but it’s worth mentioning to the service center if the restart doesn’t work.

2. Delving a Little Deeper

If the simple fixes don’t solve the problem, here are some other possibilities:

Battery Blues: A low battery or a faulty battery connection can sometimes affect the display.

Check your battery level and ensure the connection between the battery and the scooter is secure.

Exposure Issues: Leaving your scooter parked in extreme heat or cold can potentially damage the display.

While not super common, it’s something to consider if your scooter was recently exposed to harsh weather conditions.

Software Glitch: Just like any electronic device, your S1’s display software might encounter a glitch.

If a restart doesn’t fix it, there might be a software update available that could resolve the issue.

However, updating the software usually needs to be done at an authorized service center.

3. The Importance of the Ola App

Here’s where your trusty Ola Electric app comes in handy.

The app can sometimes provide additional information or error codes that might shed light on the display issue.

Check the app for any notifications or warnings related to your scooter.

4. The Final Step: Service Center Support

If you’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps and your display remains unresponsive, it’s time to visit an authorized Ola service centre.

The technicians there have the expertise and tools to diagnose the problem and get your S1 display back on track.

Remember: Don’t try to fix the display yourself unless you’re comfortable with scooter electronics. Leave it to the professionals to avoid causing further damage.

5. Preventing Future Display Woes

While some display issues might be unavoidable, there are ways to minimize the risk:

  • Regular Servicing: Following the recommended service schedule for your Ola S1 ensures all connections are checked and tightened, potentially preventing loose connections that could affect the display.
  • Parking Smartly: Avoid leaving your scooter in direct sunlight for extended periods or in extreme cold. This can help protect the display from heat or cold damage.
  • App Alertness: Keep an eye on the Ola app for any software update notifications for your S1. These updates can sometimes address display-related bugs.

Final Thoughts

By following these tips and staying calm when faced with a blank display, you can get your Ola S1 back on the road in no time.

Remember, a little troubleshooting knowledge and a visit to the service center if needed can ensure your scooter’s display continues to be your reliable riding companion.
