A month ago, I started facing Wi-Fi connectivity issues in my Nexon EV.
The Wi-Fi connection automatically disconnects, so I would not use features like the infotainment system, reverse camera, navigation etc.
I was frustrated, so I decided to visit a Tata Motors service centre to get mechanic help. He guided me through the steps to fix the Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
In this blog, I will share the exact steps you can follow to fix any Wi-Fi connectivity problems in your Nexon EV without the help of a mechanic.
If you follow these steps, I’m confident that you’ll have your Wi-Fi connection with the Tata Nexon EV.
How to Find Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues?
The first thing I check is why the Wi-Fi connection automatically drops. I noticed some signs in my Tata Nexon EV that you can recognize too:
My infotainment system was dropping the Wi-Fi connection. If this happens to you, that’s a red flag.
Also, I checked and noticed weak signals from both my home Wi-Fi router and mobile hotspot, which was affecting the connection.
So how do I start to find?
I turned my home router off and on again, hoping it would refresh the Wi-Fi connection. While this is a quick fix for some, it didn’t completely solve my issue.
I looked around to see if anything was blocking the Wi-Fi signal between my router and the Nexon EV.
I checked my mobile hotspot settings and switched to a different Wi-Fi channel. This helped reduce interference from other networks, but the connection was still not stable.
I also made sure my network drivers were up to date, this can make a huge difference in Wi-Fi connectivity.
How to Fix Nexon EV Wi-Fi?
After trying all the above, I still wasn’t solved, so I took my Nexon EV to a Tata Motors service centre for expert advice. Here’s what he recommended:
1. Checking Network Settings
An expert guided me on how to check the Wi-Fi settings on the Nexon EV’s infotainment system. Here’s how I did it:
✔️ Go to the Settings Menu on the infotainment display.
✔️ Select Wi-Fi to see all available networks.
If your mobile network shows a weak or unstable connection, then make sure to turn off and reconnect again.
Also, I checked for software updates. The expert said that keeping the infotainment system software current can solve a lot of Wi-Fi problems.
2. Updating the Software
As I said we have to make sure that software must be up to date to work connectivity issues properly.
I observed that updates help to fix the bugs in Nexon EV software that can improve Wi-Fi performance and speed.
Here’s how I updated mine:
✔️ Navigate to Settings > Software Updates on the infotainment display.
✔️ Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is stable while downloading and installing any updates.
This step improved the performance of my infotainment system a lot.
3. Router and Signal Strength
If your Nexon EV is at home and trying to connect it to the home internet, router placement is also important.
The mechanic suggested me follow the following things while EV is connected to the router:
✔️ Place the router closer to the vehicle for a stronger signal.
✔️ If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, go for the 5 GHz band. It’s faster and has less interference.
If you’re using a mobile hotspot, make sure it’s as close to your Nexon EV as possible, whether you’re driving or parked.
4. Re-Pairing the Wi-Fi Connection
Finally, the expert suggested re-pairing the Wi-Fi connection, and this step worked for me.
All we know is how to repair the Wi-Fi connection with your Nexon EV, here’s how I did:
✔️ Restarted my home router and mobile hotspot.
✔️ On the infotainment system, I went to the Wi-Fi settings and removed the existing connection.
✔️ I reconnected by entering my network password again.
This simple step stabilized my Wi-Fi connection, and then my Nexon EV worked smoothly.
Final Thoughts
Fixing the Wi-Fi connectivity issues in my Nexon EV took a lot of time, but following these steps helped me.
The infotainment system is now fully functional again, and the Wi-Fi connection is stable.
If you’re facing Wi-Fi connectivity issues in your Nexon EV, I hope these tips help you out!
If things still don’t work after trying these steps, don’t hesitate to visit a Tata Motors service centre for expert help.
Initially, I had to visit the Tata Motors service center to get my Wi-Fi issues sorted out, but you don’t need to go if you follow these steps.
