Tata Harrier EV Revealed Before Official Launch!

The long-anticipated Tata Harrier EV has been seen testing on Indian roads, now without any camouflage, suggesting that the official launch must be around the corner. After being shown in its production-spec form at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the electric SUV will now be Tata’s new flagship in its burgeoning EV portfolio.

As the Indian EV market surges at unprecedented levels, Tata is eager to consolidate its grip by introducing one more talented electric SUV into the market.

A Familiar Look with EV-Specific Tweaks

The Harrier EV carries the solid design cues of its ICE variant but presents a unique electric vehicle design. The most prominent ones are a closed front grille and a new bumper with vertical slats, akin to the Nexon EV.

These adjustments not only provide aerodynamics but also provide the Harrier EV with a more futuristic look. The test mule had a dual-tone black and white finish, while aerodynamically tuned alloy wheels enhanced efficiency and minimized drag. While the rear profile is mostly similar to the regular Harrier, the EV receives a retuned bumper specifically engineered for its electric powertrain.

Even though the model seen on the roads did not have the “.EV” badging on the tailgate, it should be included in the production version. The fact that there is little camouflage indicates that Tata is at the final stages of testing before announcing it officially.

Modern Interior with Premium Features

Inside, the Harrier EV follows the design cues of the standard Harrier but adopts a dual-tone black-and-white colour scheme. A 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment screen and a 4-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated Tata logo control the dashboard.

The design stays uncluttered and high-end, with metallic trim and soft-touch elements providing a high-end feel. Other features expected are a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, and potentially a “Summon Mode” where the vehicle can be controlled to go forward and backwards using the key fob.

The mode would be highly convenient in terms of parking in compact spaces, and that is where the urban crowd will find this very appealing.

Focus on Safety and Performance

Tata should equip the Harrier EV with a solid lineup of safety features, including a maximum of seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The Harrier EV would then be positioned as a safe and premium electric SUV offering in the market. With ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking, the vehicle is most likely to provide a safer ride.

There would be a dual-motor setup powering the Tata Harrier EV, making it an all-wheel-drive vehicle. This feature mentions the return of AWD to Tata’s portfolio, as the last time it was seen was on the older Tata models.

Built on Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, the SUV will likely get a 75 kWh battery pack, which would give it an estimated range of over 500 km on full charge. A more affordable single-motor variant, possibly in preview, is also being speculated for the SUV to expand its outreach to a better audience who do not necessitate AWD capability.

Expected Pricing and Competition

The Tata Harrier EV is believed to be valued between Rs 28 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, it will compete against Mahindra XUV.e9, BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, MG ZS EV, and other upcoming rivals Kia Carens EV and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.

With Tata having already made its presence felt in the Indian EV sector with Nexon EV and Punch EV, the Harrier EV is believed to help consolidate Tata’s hold in the upmarket electric SUV space.

With its unveiling already seeming to be a matter of days away, the Tata Harrier EV is ready to revolutionize India’s electric vehicle market. It is expected to offer a mix of premium features, range capability, and rugged design, making it one of the best in the EV market.
