MG Motor India has launched the all-new Windsor EV Pro at an introductory starting price of ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) to make a bold statement in the mid-size electric SUV category.
Scheduled to open for bookings on May 8, 2025, the first 8,000 customers can avail of this introductory pricing.
Powertrain and Range
The MG Windsor EV Pro is driven by a 52.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an ARAI-certified range of 449 km on a single charge. It gets a 134 bhp, 200 Nm of peak torque front-axle mounted electric motor perfect for city drives and highways.
It is convenient and flexible to charge, ranging from a 7.4 kW AC wall charger, with a resulting full charge in 9.5 hours, to 60 kW DC fast charging, which will take the cell from 20% to 80% in just 50 minutes. This even-handed delivery gives it an everyday feeling of electric mobility.
Features and Technology
The Windsor EV Pro EV Trekker is packed with high-end specs to include comfort, safety, and connectivity options. It has a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, one that’s also home to connected car tech, as well as an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, a panoramic glass roof, and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system.
Safety levels are top-drawer, with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, and an electronic parking brake. Significantly, it includes Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with 12 smart functions such as lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
Future-leaning features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging lend a futuristic sense of usefulness.
Pricing and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) Model
To drive EV ownership, MG has announced two innovative pricing options for the Windsor EV Pro. In addition to the traditional purchase model, consumers can choose the ground-breaking Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, for which the purchase price of the vehicle is reduced, with the battery rented separately and paid for based on usage. Here’s a quick comparison:
Pricing Model | Price (₹) | Inclusions | Battery Cost |
Standard Purchase | ₹17.49 lakh* | A full vehicle with battery ownership | Included in price |
BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) | ₹12.50 lakh* | Vehicle without battery | ₹4.5/km usage-based rent |
*Introductory pricing is applicable for the first 8,000 bookings.
Market Positioning and Competitors
The MG Windsor EV Pro seems to be a serious player in the mid-size electric SUV space for India, going up against the likes of the Tata Curvv EV and the future Hyundai Creta Electric. 136 bhp Although International’s Windsor engine offers relatively modest power (a range of 449 km) in comparison with some of its competitors, the Windsor has a list of features that give it a personality all its own.
Its exchange model is a competitive differentiator that appeals to both price-sensitive consumers and fleet managers. With MG’s mission to offer a premium approach to EVs and, at the same time, keep them affordable, the company is targeting urban families, early adopters, and eco-conscious consumers searching for the tech-forward, practical solutions provided by EVs instead of the conventional SUV’s.
With the MG Windsor EV Pro, an affordable range and premium features can unsettle India’s EV SUV landscape. Whether you prefer an affordable BaaS ownership model or own a full-ownership experience, this electric SUV blends innovation with value making it a compelling choice in 2025 and beyond.
