Hyundai Kona Electric Battery Price in 2025 (An Expert Guide)

When I first considered switching from my petrol sedan to an EV, the Hyundai Kona Electric was high on my list. Sleek design, great range, and that satisfying instant acceleration—it checked all the boxes.

But like any EV enthusiast, I had a lingering question: “What’s the battery replacement cost going to be?”

It’s not the most glamorous part of EV ownership, but it’s one of the most important. The battery is the heart of the car—and unlike an oil change or brake pad swap, replacing it isn’t a small expense.

Knowing the Hyundai Kona Electric battery price before buying or replacing helps you plan long-term, avoid surprises, and even negotiate better deals when shopping for a used one.

What is the Battery Price for the Hyundai Kona Electric?

As of mid-2025, the Hyundai Kona Electric battery price in India ranges from ₹13.5 lakh to ₹16 lakh, depending on the variant, dealership, and local taxes.

Both Kona trims use the same 39.2 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, so the core pack cost is similar—but labor, calibration, and transportation can nudge the final bill up or down.

If your Kona is still under Hyundai’s 8-year / 1,60,000 km battery warranty, the replacement is covered at no cost to you (aside from some downtime). Out of warranty, however, you’ll be paying the full amount.

Battery Prices for All Variants

Here’s a quick breakdown of battery costs for each Kona Electric variant:

VariantBattery CapacityApprox. Price (INR)
Kona Electric Premium39.2 kWh₹13.5 – ₹15.5 lakh
Kona Electric Premium Dual Tone39.2 kWh₹13.6 – ₹15.6 lakh

Kona Electric Premium

The Premium variant is the base model, but don’t let that fool you—the battery is identical to the Dual Tone. I’ve seen quotes from ₹13.5 lakh to ₹15.5 lakh. One Chennai dealership quoted me on the lower side, while a Bangalore dealer’s estimate was almost ₹1 lakh higher (likely due to logistics).

Kona Electric Premium Dual Tone

The Dual Tone version is all about styling, but the battery is still the same 39.2 kWh pack. Replacement prices I found ranged from ₹13.6 lakh to ₹15.6 lakh. Interestingly, one Hyderabad dealer mentioned a few customers had opted for slightly newer cell chemistry during replacements, which bumped up the cost closer to ₹16 lakh.

Hyundai Kona Electric Battery Warranty

Hyundai offers an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty on the Kona Electric battery. This covers defects and excessive capacity loss (generally anything more than 30% degradation during the warranty period).

From real-world stories I’ve heard in EV communities:

  • A Kona owner in Pune had their pack replaced at 6 years after range dropped from ~452 km to ~290 km on a full charge. Entirely covered under warranty.
  • Replacement times vary—anywhere from 10 days to a month—depending on pack availability.

Hyundai Kona Electric Battery Replacement Cost

When you hear “battery price,” remember—it’s not just the pack. There’s installation, testing, BMS (Battery Management System) calibration, and labor to factor in.

From my research and speaking with service advisors:

  • OEM Replacement at Hyundai Service Center – ₹13.5 – ₹16 lakh (includes battery + labor + software updates)
  • Third-Party EV Specialists – ₹10.5 – ₹12 lakh (often refurbished packs, shorter warranties of 1–3 years)

Factors influencing replacement cost:

  1. Warranty Coverage – The biggest cost saver if you’re still eligible.
  2. Battery Tech Updates – Hyundai occasionally uses updated packs, which may incur a slight cost increase.
  3. Location & Dealer Markup – Urban centers often have higher labor rates.
  4. Logistics – Import duties and shipping costs can increase for less common parts.

Would I go third-party? If I planned to keep my Kona for 8–10 years, I’d stick to OEM. But if I were selling in a year or two, a good refurbished pack could make sense.

Final Thoughts

If you’re budgeting for the future, the Hyundai Kona Electric battery replacement cost in India sits around ₹13.5–₹16 lakh out of warranty.

Thankfully, Hyundai’s 8-year / 1,60,000 km battery warranty means most owners won’t face that bill for years.

For me, the Kona is still one of the most practical and premium electric SUVs in its class. Just remember—the battery is its lifeline.

Charge smart, avoid over-reliance on fast charging, and you might never need to open your wallet for a new one.
