I’ve been using my Bajaj electric scooter for a while now, and I’ve learned a lot about the time it takes to charge it.
In this blog, I’ll share my own experience to help you understand how long it takes to charge a Bajaj electric scooter.
I’ll cover the different factors that affect charging time and give you some tips to make the process easier.
By the end, you’ll know exactly what to expect when charging your scooter.
Bajaj Chetak Battery Time
You being the owner of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter have various charging options:
Standard Home Charger
For charging at home, you would use a standard household power outlet, the typical 220V, 15A socket.
The company provides a 2.5 kW charger with the scooter.
If your battery is completely drained, it takes me around 5-7 hours to fully charge it with this home charger.
But it’s a really good option because you can just plug it in overnight or whenever the scooter is parked in the home parking like I often do.
Fast Charger
Now, when you’re driving in the city, there are public charging stations available.
They have more powerful chargers, at least 3.3 kW or higher.
With these fast chargers, I’ve been able to charge my battery from 80% drained to full in just 2-3 hours.
It depends on the capacity of the battery, for a fully drained battery it takes 3 hours.
It’s really helpful when you need a quick charge during the day or on longer trips.
Partial Charging
Sometimes, you might not need a full charge, you know?
Like, if you are trying to maintain your battery level like I often do for my daily commute.
In those cases, if you’ve already 50% battery remaining, it takes anywhere from 2-3 hours.
Again, it depends on how much charge is left in your battery.
It’s flexible and helps optimise charging time.
Factor Affects Charging Time
Why does it take time to charge the Bajaj Chetak Electric scooter battery at times?
Have you ever thought about it?
I discussed this with a Bajaj showroom expert who has been dealing with electric bikes for the last three years.
And here are the points he mentioned and suggests to take care.
Battery Capacity
If your Bajaj Chetak has a large battery or a high-capacity battery in KwH, it can take longer.
It will naturally take more time because of the capacity.
The power output of the charger
The power output of the charger in KwH also affects the charging time.
If the charger is not fully compatible, the charging time will exceed.
I tested using this thing using a lower-power charger. It took a longer time compared to a charger with higher power.
Battery health
With time, the battery can degrade and efficiency can decrease.
If your battery has become old or degraded, it will take more charging time.
You will have to protect your battery from frequent discharges.
If it happens frequently, the charging will take longer.
Final Thoughts
Charging your Bajaj Chetak electric scooter isn’t a mystery.
From my experience with my own Chetak, a full charge usually takes about 5 hours.
This time can vary depending on the charger type and the battery’s condition, but it should be close.
Keep an eye on your battery’s needs and follow my shared tips. I hope this blog gives you a clear idea about the charging time.
