Hero Electric Optima Battery Price, Replacement Cost & Warranty

When I first got into the world of electric vehicles, I thought I understood the costs—charging, insurance, maybe the odd service.

But one day, while chatting with a fellow EV rider at a charging station, he casually mentioned he’d just replaced his scooter battery… and the price floored me.

That’s when it hit me—whether you own a Tata Nexon EV, an Ather 450X, or a Hero Electric Optima, knowing the battery price upfront can save you from nasty surprises later.

For EVs, the battery isn’t just another part—it’s the heart of the machine. Without it, your scooter’s just a pretty piece of metal and plastic sitting in the garage.

So, if you’re buying a Hero Electric Optima or thinking about replacing its battery, understanding the cost is essential for making smart decisions.

What is the Battery Price for Hero Electric Optima?

To give you the straight answer upfront—a Hero Electric Optima battery can cost anywhere from ₹25,000 to ₹74,000, depending on whether you’re going for an OEM lithium-ion pack from Hero Electric or a third-party alternative.

OEM prices for the Optima’s lithium-ion variants typically fall between ₹65,000 and ₹74,000, while aftermarket lithium-ion packs can start as low as ₹25,750.

Lead-acid versions are cheaper but far less common now. Prices also fluctuate based on the variant, location, and dealer margins.

Battery Prices for All Variants

Now, let’s break this down by each Optima variant so you have a clear picture. I’ve grouped them into the major battery setups you’ll find in India.

VariantEstimated Price (INR)
HX Single Battery (OEM)₹65,640
HX Dual Battery / ER (OEM)₹74,039
Aftermarket Lithium-Ion Option₹25,750

Hero Electric Optima HX – Single Battery (Lithium-Ion)

From my inquiries at Hero Electric showrooms, the single battery HX variant’s pack usually comes in at around ₹65,640.

This is the OEM pack with the exact voltage and ampere-hour (Ah) rating the scooter ships with—usually a 51.2 V, 30 Ah lithium-ion battery.

Prices can vary slightly between cities (I’ve seen a ₹2–3k difference just between Pune and Bangalore) due to logistics, taxes, and local dealer mark-ups.

Hero Electric Optima HX – Dual Battery (Extended Range)

If you’re after more range, the dual-battery setup—also called the ER (Extended Range) version—is the obvious choice.

But it does come at a premium. The OEM dual-battery pack costs roughly ₹74,039.

This setup effectively doubles your kWh capacity, giving you longer rides without charging, but also means you have double the cells to eventually replace.

Aftermarket Lithium-Ion Replacements

If your budget’s tight, you might be tempted by third-party packs. I’ve come across compatible lithium-ion packs (NMC chemistry, 51.8 V, 31.2 Ah) priced at around ₹25,750.

These can be a decent option if you’re out of warranty and just want to keep the scooter running, but you need to double-check specs, BMS compatibility, and warranty terms.

Some offer a 12-month warranty, others go for 24 months with pro-rata clauses.

Battery Warranty of Hero Electric Optima

Hero Electric typically offers a 3-year warranty on lithium-ion batteries in newer Optima models (older models had shorter coverage).

This covers manufacturing defects and significant capacity loss—usually if the battery falls below a certain usable kWh threshold within the warranty period.

However, real-world experiences vary. Some owners have had smooth replacements under warranty, while others reported delays or disagreements over whether their battery issue qualified for a claim.

One rider in Delhi told me his battery was replaced in under a week after a sudden voltage drop; another in Chennai said it took over a month because the dealership was waiting for stock.

It’s also worth noting:

  • Lead-acid batteries generally carry just a 1-year warranty.
  • Warranty terms may reset if you replace the battery with another OEM pack during coverage.
  • Physical damage, water ingress, or third-party tampering can void coverage.

Bottom line: read your warranty booklet and keep service records. They matter if you ever need to make a claim.

Battery Replacement Cost of Hero Electric Optima

Replacing a Hero Electric Optima battery isn’t just about the price of the pack—you’ll also need to factor in labor and dealership service charges.

OEM Replacement

Going the OEM route, you’re looking at ₹65k–₹74k for the battery itself, plus ₹3k–₹5k for installation and software pairing (yes, modern EV batteries talk to your scooter’s ECU).

The upside? You get perfect fitment, no compatibility headaches, and your scooter retains its original range specs.

Third-Party Replacement

With a third-party pack, you could get back on the road for under ₹30k. But you may face:

  • Slightly different charging times
  • Range variations
  • Limited warranty support
  • Potential impact on resale value

I’ve seen some riders happy with third-party packs for commuting, but if you’re relying on the scooter for longer trips, OEM tends to offer more consistency.

Factors That Affect Cost

  • Age of the scooter: Older ECUs may need firmware updates.
  • Warranty status: If in warranty, you could pay nothing.
  • Battery technology updates: Newer packs might have improved energy density, raising prices.
  • Local labor rates: Metro cities often charge more for installation.
  • Import and logistics: Batteries are heavy, hazardous goods—shipping adds up.

Final Thoughts

If you’re wondering “What’s the Hero Electric Optima battery price?”, here’s the short answer: ₹65,000–₹74,000 for OEM lithium-ion packs, and ₹25,000–₹30,000 for aftermarket options.

In my experience, if you’re still within the warranty window, stick to OEM. Out of warranty and short on budget? A third-party battery can be a lifesaver—just do your homework on specs and seller reputation.

At the end of the day, the right choice comes down to how you use your scooter, your budget, and how much peace of mind you want from your ride.

For me, I’d happily pay more for OEM if it means fewer headaches down the road.
