Honda CB125 Hornet

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled the all-new CB 125 Hornet, venturing into the sporty 125cc space to take on the likes of TVS Raider 125, Hero Xtreme 125R, and Bajaj Pulsar N125.

The move marks a strategic milestone as Honda celebrates 25 years in India with a bike aimed at young riders seeking standout style and modern tech.

Topics Covered
Design: Streetfighter DNA, Honda QualityPowertrain & Performance: Quickest in Its ClassTech & Convenience: Packed to ImpressChassis, Brake & Safety HighlightsColors & Booking DetailsWhy the Hornet Matters for Indian RidersFinal Verdict

Design: Streetfighter DNA, Honda Quality

Wrapped in audacious styling, the CB 125 Hornet boasts twin LED headlamps with DRLs, sharp tank shrouds, a muscular tank, and upswept exhaust.

A segment-first golden USD fork and a split seat setup reinforce its sporty streetfighter appeal. Its lightweight stance of approximately 124 kg makes it nimble and easy to maneuver around urban India.

Powertrain & Performance: Quickest in Its Class

Powered by a 123.94 cc air‑cooled, fuel‑injected single‑cylinder engine—similar to Shine 125 and SP 125—but retuned for 11 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, Honda claims a 0‑60 km/h sprint in just 5.4 seconds, making it the fastest 125cc offering in the segment on paper.

It is paired with a 5‑speed gearbox and complies with OBD2B emission norms.

Tech & Convenience: Packed to Impress

  • A first-in-segment 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth via Honda’s RoadSync app delivers turn-by-turn navigation, call/message alerts, and music control; accessible via handlebar controls.
  • A USB‑C charging port ensures riders stay powered on the go.
  • The lighting is fully LED—including headlamp, tail lamp, and indicators—for efficiency and crisp aesthetics.

Chassis, Brake & Safety Highlights

Equipped with golden USD front forks and a five-step adjustable mono-shock at the rear, the Hornet promises firm handling with customizable rigidity.

Braking duties are handled by a 240 mm front petal disc with single-channel ABS and a 130 mm rear drum brake.

Despite no rear disc, the bike ensures reliable stopping power and improved heat dissipation. Tubeless tyres in 80/100‑17 (front) and 110/80‑17 (rear) sizes enhance road grip.

Colors & Booking Details

The CB 125 Hornet will be offered in four dual-tone colour schemes:

  • Pearl Siren Blue with Lemon Ice Yellow
  • Pearl Igneous Black
  • Pearl Siren Blue with Athletic Blue Metallic
  • Pearl Siren Blue with Sports Red

Bookings open from 1 August 2025, while pricing is expected between ₹95,000 to ₹1,00,000 ex-showroom—placing it strategically between Raider and Xtreme trims.

Why the Hornet Matters for Indian Riders

  1. Blends flair with functionality: The Hornet’s aggressive looks, TFT tech, and USD forks elevate it above everyday commuter bikes.
  2. Appeals to younger demographics: Connectivity-focused features and bold styling target Gen Z buyers.
  3. Trust in Honda reliability: While rivals boast similar performance, Honda brings a reputation for service and long-term dependability.

Final Verdict

The Honda CB 125 Hornet is more than a sporty badge; it’s Honda’s clear entry into the aspirational modern 125cc segment. With class-leading features, edgy styling, and competitive performance, it sets a new benchmark for premium commuters under ₹1 lakh.

Ultimately, its success will hinge on final pricing and delivery experience. If Honda delivers on both, the Hornet could redefine the 125cc category in India—setting a new standard for young riders who demand both style and substance.

Let me know if you’d like a comparison table versus the Raider 125 or Xtreme 125R, or an early ride review once test rides begin.
